Sylvia Finberg

Sylvia Finberg
Sylvia Swesnik Finberg was always connected to the Jewish community. She learned that commitment from her father, the owner of Swesnik Loan pawnshop, who helped fundraise for the JUF Annual Campaign.

Sylvia spent most of her life in Chicago. When she married her husband, Max, they moved to Ashland, Ohio and opened their own pawnshop. The couple retired to Florida, where Sylvia was active in Hadassah. When Max passed away, she came back to Chicago, where she was able to spend time with her family. One of her grandchildren, Phyllis Tabachnick, remembers how wonderful it was having her grandmother in the Chicago area. Sylvia is remembered lovingly by her five grandchildren and three nieces.
